I have a choice from AT&T Cable Internet or Pacific Bell DSL. Which one is better? I mainly work on my site, use KaZaA, and sometimes play online games, such as Counter-Strike.

Which one is more suitable for me? Thanks for you opinion!

*EDIT*
AT&T Pricing:
$29.95 for the first 6 months
$45.95 after 6 months w/ Leased Modem

Pacific Bell Pricing:
$39.95 a month w/ FREE Modem

Oh forgot about that .. sorry.
AT&T:
"Varies" (it doesn't even tell you on the site, but I think it's up to 1.5 Mbps)

Pacific Bell:
384Kbps - 1.5Mbps downstream
128Kbps upstream

It's no longer AT&T.. it's Comast.

Which is 3500kbps down and 256kbps up.

AT&T and Comast Merger was one of the biggest. Making Comast the largest cabel provider with around 27 Million users...

As far as How I know the speeds.. I just do. I sell Cable services down here for a friend.

Lemme see.. 27 million users x hmm 49.99 a month = $1,349,730,000 x 12 = $16,196,760,000 Not bad.

Who?

i've been using AT&T Cable for about 2-3 years and they have been very good, the only time the cable gos down is around 1-4am in the morning and the speed is great, but i dislike the merge with comcast because i've heard comcast wants to add on bandwidth caps:(

I have AT&T Cable (one house) and 56k (other house). With cable I can have multiple downloads (I've gone up to 5) at 50-70KBps each. It downloads MP3s from sites on a good connection like nothing at about 150KBps. I get MP3s from Kazaa at about 30KBps. Go figure.

Thanks for your opinions! I guess I'll stick to DSL cause it's easier to install. :D

Maybe that was because he was only downloading from one person?

I live in Fresno, CA and ATT sucks when they are up and running, when they are up some days it runs at 34-85k and other days about 3mb per sec but they are down alot saying they are upgrading or you call cuz of connection problems and they tell you to power cycle that is their fix for everything, But I have PacBell always connected uand if runs at a steady 1.4mbps so for me PacBell is better because I have zero problems.

PacBell (SBC) is generally pretty reliable by me. I'm on pretty constantly and there haven't been many dead times. When there is, their support is useless however, so don't bother trying to call or email them. I just wait until they fix it, save myself the aggravation. Also, it is $39.95 but they will raise you to $49.95 at some point.
