Who do you think is the funniest "group" of characters in The Simpsons.
The Simpsons mafia characters have to be some of the funniest characters in the show, in my opinion. If you have seen some of the episodes with them in it, you know what I'm talking about....

I'd have to say the police force.

Wiggum: Alrigth boys, hand in your guns
Lou: Aw man, this gun really made me feel like a man, now all I got is my extremely large genitals.

Wiggum: good work lou..you'll make leutenant for this.
Lou:I already am leuitenant chief.
Wiggum: right...This looks like the work of crazy old sideshow bob.
Lisa: No chief, bob's innocent, cecil confessed.
Wiggum: That sounds like a testimony of crazy little lisa simpson
Lou: No she's right chief, cecil confessed everything.
Wiggum: Quiet Lou, or i'll demote you to leuitenant so fast it'll make your head spin

This is kinda off topic, but does anyone else get the feeling that either
a) The series is ending
or
b)They're killing off Lisa?
because the past couple of weeks they've (lisa) hinted about it. She said a couple of weeks ago "Is this the end of our series.............of adventures"
and then just this Sunday she said "Don't you guys think we've been on enough crazty adventures (or something to that extent)?"
makes one think...

They are going to run the series for another 6 years. Maybe they'll make her go off to vocational school or something....

She isn't supposed to be.
And calling a fictional, cartoon character an 'idiot -----' is quite ironic.

Lisa is the writer's biggest mistake.

Lisa needs to be there, unfunny or not. She serves as a boring or cinfusing character for a guy like Homer to feed off of...

I've heard many sources claim to know when the series is going off the air, when they're going to make a movie, what's the finale going to be, what the movie's going to be rated... I wouldn't give any of them much credence.
To detect the imminent death of a show on the horizon, whether serious or comedy, live action or animated, you can always use this tried and true method: When they abruptly introduce a new character and that character is an infant/puppy, it's got two year left, maximum.
She said a couple of weeks ago "Is this the end of our series.............of adventures"A couple weeks ago? That show premiered over ten months back.
In my opinion, The Simpsons should have stopped being made years ago. They're getting slightly better, but for quite a long stretch the new episodes were utter garbage-- a far, far cry from the earlier ones. Lately it's been nothing more than a few scattered funny one-liners mixed in with pointless, rambling dribble. The various allusions and references can be worth a giggle, too, but you can't build a show off that alone (case in point, Family Guy).
Lisa's character has changed significantly, I've noticed that too... I don't know where they're going with it, but it's not looking too good. Homer, I think, has strayed the furthest from the original character.

No, there was a time when you could look at the beginning of the show and the end of the show and see some logical connexion between them-- it had a story. Now it doesn't seem as though it goes more than a few minutes without dramatically shifting gears. It's just random scenes completely lacking any plot to tie them together. It looks like they're trying to leave traditional narrative in favor of a stream of consciousness approach, but that's very difficult to pull off convincingly and, in my opinion, they're failing at it.

The last new episode came out four days ago.
Matt Groening hasn't had any real control over the show in years (isn't his title "Creative Consultant" now?), he certainty doesn't write them anymore.

Actually he is, 'cause he has that little leprechaun in his head that tells him to burn things. I think that counts as 2 characters, don't you?

The Simpsons is getting really quite sucky. Old episodes are excellent, you can laugh your arse off... the new ones are just like, 'Oh yeah, hehe' a few times. The quality is rapidly detoriating - quit while you're ahead, guys.
