Desktop Icons

Does anyone know of a good (free) program that allows you to convert images into desktop icon files?

I use Ulead Photoimpact to open any image files, and then resave it with *.ico extension. Works like charm. Probably PSP or Photoshop can also do the same.

Can't you just rename a bmp to an ico?

I could, but this way I don't have to go through the hassles of making everything transparent.
