this is really sad and really scary :cry2:

taken from the Daily Telegraph (http://www.dailytelegraph.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,5620294%255E701,00.html)

"From 3pm, all hell broke loose.

In the next hour a fire broke out every two minutes.

More than 1100 firefighters were scrambled to blazes across NSW which destroyed 23 homes and almost 60,000ha.

As homes burned to the ground, streets were evacuated. Every single emergency service was at full stretch and still it was not enough. Fire crews were overwhelmed by the ferocity of the flames, with some blazes left unattended because of the lack of tankers and crews."

Daily Telegraph, printing sensationalistic tripe - suprise, suprise :confused2: I swear some these media outlets are praying for more chaos and destruction.

The firefighters and helicopter pilots bombing any fire that comes close to property have saved dozens of houses. What Legends!

What I'm saying is that the northern part of North America doesn't have as much snow as the Southern part.

Hopefully the crisis has eased now. Let's hope for rain to ease the burden on home owners and let the firefighters get some well earned rest.

Forest fires seem to be really ravaging the world nowadays, especially Australia, and Daniel has nailed the reason. We must combat forest fires and desertification, and the only way to stop that is to educate the farmers and improve factories. :(

I'm just sitting here wondering why lots of those people start fires. A bit earlier then last year. Woo, go Australia! Contributing the most to Global Warming. The destruction to mankind is nearing!

It seemed like yesterday when Australia had its last major outbreak of bushfires. I remember last winter when the bushfires came within kilometers of the sydney city limits before they were finally controlled. What a strange coincidence that the same thing should happen again this year. :(

Australia has major outbreaks every year as does USA, Canada and Europe. But rarely do we get them in winter :p

Funny how this year's winter in Australia was mostly dry and warm/hot... Especially in NSW.:bandit2:

the current drought is causing lots of problems in Australia. obviously the dry means fires burn faster and are harder to put out.

its about the worst drought on record and they are not expecting rain till at least March next year.

i guess one day our govt will wake up and go "hmm, the weather is weird, its costing us heaps in natural disasters - is that what those wacko's were on about... guess we should have thought about kyoto....."

sorry about the multiple posts, thought it was worth it - have a look at those photos, they are from the smh.com.au website.

this one is a dust storm, there have been 3 or 4 in the past 2 months.
