I came across a program that harvest email addresses from sites. Wondering if it could pick up my address from my site, I tried it out. I was surprised that it didn't pick up my address, but in 2 minutes, it had over 200. And I don't have many outside links on my site. These programs are dangerous. They can easily add thousands of email addresses at a time into spam email lists. Wondering how secure a site like this is, where there are many users who have their email address posted along with every post, I tried it out(don't worry, I don't have any spamming mailing list to add them to).
Well, it only found 46 in a couple of minutes. Still, with a few adjustments, these programs could perform a lot better.
I hate spam. I used to get about 6 or seven a day, then 10 or 11, then 20 or 30, then I quit using my hotmail account.
Anyways, my point of all this is that there needs to be more done to prevent spam. Hotmails "Inbox Protector" is a useless piece o ----.
