what I'm after is a place I can stick a few files MP3s about 10-20MB in total - not anticipating a huge number of downloads a day

I have a web host already but there are issues over bandwidth and large file downloads from the server so I'm trying to find somewhere to put them. I want to just link to them from a page on my server.

I don't want ads and things like that - I want it to be transparant to the user.

I'm sure that this is an eternal dream but there must be some way to get it even if some sort of 'scam' has to be used to make it work.

I have got bored with signing up with providers to discover they don't do what I want. Ideally I'd like FTP access and such like but that's not important.

as a clarification I don't care what is on the server as long as I can do direct linking from my site without it complaining like tripod does - they can have all the banner ads in the world as long as my punters don't have to see them ;-)
