View Full Version : Looking for space without buggy ads

With the dot-com meltdown, the chances of finding a free host with no ads is almost nil. So I need a free host that offers 20+mb of space and doesn't have really annoying ads. For me, the perfect popup would be one that I can minimize and doesn't pop back up while I'm going through the site or isn't joined by others. Or at least a host doesn't give surfers a pop-up for every page, if they already left one up. Or at least hides the popups behind the window.

Surfing the web just gets uglier and uglier each day. Sites or hosts desperate for revenue now have huge popups that need to be killed for every link you click or everytime you hit the back button. There was this one free Japanese host that had a most ridiculous popup that took up entire the top one-eighth of your screen. It stays up there for the entire visit because it refuses to die or be tranquilized. For all those who want to minimize the amount of popups and use proxy servers: www.naviscope.com Good stuff.

Try Brinkster, they give 30MBs and suppport a lot of types fo scripts.
Prob is they don't hv FTP

Why don't you try Nbci? They have plenty of money, and therefore are unlikely to implement "buggy" pop-up advertisements. The ads they do have technically aren't "on" your pages.

For 20+ MB, there's http://www.f2s.com (20 MB), http://www.sphosting.com (35 MB) http://www.freespeech.org (25 MB) and http://www.liquid2k.com (20 MB). Those have been around a while and should be reliable. Freespeech.org requires a text link, and the others don't have any ads at all. (Brinkster is also a choice, as Baggio mentioned, but that's mainly useful if you want to try ASP.)

F2S and freespeech are the only ones that have FTP access.

I am Adam, owner of liquid2k.com, everyone tripped out over some garbage in our privacy policy. Well quickly- when we first started it was just myself and john. We picked up 2 advertisers and everyone wanted a damn privacy policy so we copied- like 10 dif ones. at the time I didnt know any better so I went with that, when I finaly spoke with someone this year about it I removed it from the policy and had it re-written and edited. Never have any of the sites we own ever copied, ripped off or stolen anyone else's material. 1- we set the trends, 2- we employee more kids then anyone I know. We even fund several diffrent teenage owned companies. I challenge anyone to let me know that myself or my team has ever taken someone else's ides, material, design or anything of that nature.

Hey I highly recommend envy.nu because they just added ftp access (although it is their own...it's still something). 20mbs no ads. (Plus subdomain).

OR...this one is new but seems good: 15mb http://affari.to
you get a subdomain with them and currently no ads.
And yes, f2s is really good.

He's not talking about you SnakeBite, He's referring to Liquid2k.com who incessantly reads old threads about his host and supposedly "fights back"

OK OK OK!! But I was really tired today and I ve been staring at a computer all day at work. My eyes were blurring. Ill try not to let it happen again. (And I did read the whole post but for some reason misunderstood you and to save face I deleted it).

It's not like a person can't make an honest mistake. Right? Thanks for the suggestion though.
