Hi people,

boy, I'm fed up again. I'm seeking a new free webspace for a new project of mine, but everywhere I look, I need a special applications where I have to explain the sense of my existence or the hosts are closed anywhere. And then the accounts are drawn by lot like in Las Vegas?

Now, does anyone knows a cool host where I just can put my tiny webpage on, without sluts-ads coming up or any other annoyances. Say about >=50MB, ftp, php, mysql, a few gig transfer?

Thanx,
Spikee

No I don't think there is one, especially for 50MB and as you put it, "a few gig transfer".

The only one which springs to mind is: http://www.fairmount.nu

Oh thanks, looks really good, but my Page is unfortunately not in English, as they demand.

Yea most of the hosts require english websites. What about creating a multi-language website and have the English pages UNDER CONSTRUCTION FOR EVER !!!!! :D

Because that would violate the terms even if they only require an English version.

What do you have against filling out an application for space? If you're doing something legitimate, there shouldn't be any problem obtaining an account somewhere...

wth... 50MB and a few gigs of transfer is for a 'tiny' website?

Hi folks,

yeah, 50 MB and a few gigs transfer are quite normal for me nower days. I cannot calculate how my website will grow and how many people will download it. That's the point where most of the offers are completely unrealistic.

Other free webspace providers seem to gain personal satisfaction by making their users beg for webspace.

I don't like if things depend on personal views! Whether a webspice is "worth" to host or not. It's a "better" kind of censorship and that's which makes our "Internet-community" a fraud.

Think,
Spikee

Have you tried xtremesite.com (http://xtremesite.com) or lord-dragon.com (http://lord-dragon.com)?

Xtremesite isn't accepting new signups.

Lord-dragon just goes to the "Default Plesk Page."

They are both down at present, although Lord-dragon is in the process of a comeback soon.

WTH are you talking about?? Why are you complaining so much? Its FREE! No one's forcing you to make a site. With that attitude I doubt any good host (without auto sign ups) is going to take you in. If its making you so upset why don't you find another hobby.

You don't need that much bandwidth, 1 gig actually ALOT of bandwidth ... it may not sound like it , but it is ..

What do you mean by that? :smile2:

the better free hoster will do that, require something from you and thier just doing that to protect themselves, from the abusersl
every time a free host does something nice some ------- screws it up for the rest of us

aha......I understand now...

Well...spikee...in order to maintain reliability and up-time, the hosts will need some sort of compensation for the hosting... :smile2: It doesn't have to be financially either. You won't get everything with out earning for it.

In my opinion, users "should beg" for free webspace, especially when one requires a "few gigs of bandwidth", PHP and MySQL... I personally wouldn't give away all that with the user doing nothing in return...
