to add more to my site i was planning on offer free redirection and looking for hosting that has dns wildcards enabled so i can do it... people might not even be interested though... my domain is oawu.net... and would offering sub domains instead of sub directories draw more people or should i just go with sub directories? it has been very hard to find a host that allows that has dns wildcards enabled with is needed for sub domains so i may end up going with sub directories anyway...

but anyway, is oawu.net a domain people would want their site under? either them.oawu.net or oawu.net/them

Sorry but I just think oawu is too hard to remember sort of, like yeah.

oh my god... i must be really tired... i just read my post and it seems like i would be someone who has english as a 3rd or 4th language... but english is all i speak...

basically what i am trying to say is i want to offer redirection under my domain oawu.net...

1st: is oawu.net a good domain to do this under?

2nd: is it worth it to search for a free host that has dns wildcards enabled just to offer sub domains instead of sub directories?

by the way, any suggestions of what script i should use to offer redirection would be nice...

thanks for the comment, but seriously... how hard could 4 letters possibly be to remember?

Well, maybe not that it isn't that hard to remember... but to me it just doesn't seem to like, uh... roll off the tongue well enough.

I don't think there are any free hosts that offer DNS wildcards are there??

You could use zoneedit or mydomain to offer subdomains; thats what I do ;-)

Blech, "oawu"?? Sounds like "oh-ah-woo"...
Personally, I wouldn't sign up for redirection under a domain name like yours (no offense), I'll prolly try to find some other domain name that offers redirect.

i would use lightning redirector. and yeah search for a free host (don't know if you will find one). and your domain is hard to remember.

Same question, didn't wanna start a new thread.

What do you guys think about http://username.xt7.net/ ? or is a number in the name a bad thing?

Although some domains with numbers are bad xt7 doesn't seem too bad cause at least its pretty easy to remember.

To Omari:
No, 4 letter domains aren't hard to remember--most of the time, but oawu doesn't seem to be a word I would remember all the time.

Well, xt7 is three letters, but still, pretty bad domain. A number isn't horrible, but I'd say try to stick to letters. And stay away from 2's. By word of wouth people may not know whether it's a to, 2, two, or too. It can happen.

To add on to that Canuckkev, I've had a bad experience with the number 4 in a domain name. People would sometimes think four or for as is the case with 2 like you mentioned.

how about *.site.sh :-)

Well, I think I want to do something with xt7.net. Even though it isn't the greatest domain, if I offered an ad-free service, on a fast server, maybe email@xt7.net, and the fact that many names would be available unlike CJB, would many people be interested?

that's exactly how wzr.net started, and it's become rather popular. i originally registered because it's simply weezer without the vowels [or e's, in case you hadn't noticed]

it'd no doubt have well over 2,000+ members had the site not crashed 3 months back, but that was a chmod mistake on my part...

"xt7" is too hard to type. I dunno, I find typing "cjb" easier than "xt7". The letters "cjb" are closer together, whereas in "xt7" the "x" is kinda far from "t" and "7". *shrugs* Hey, I'm lazy~~~~~

being sad for a moment I got out my ruler

x -> t = 6cm
t -> 7 = 3cm

total = 9cm

c -> j = 7cm
j -> b = 3cm

total = 10cm

all duistances from/to centre of key

and on cjb you have to double back could cause a nast injury

xt7 is in a fairly straight line nice and simple

No no no... this I must explain.

http://www.dto.f2s.com/keys/keys.jpg - take a minute to look at this simple diagram.

Now see here, in order to hit the blue "xt7" keys, you'd have to hit the blue "X" with your left ring finger downwards first, then stretch your left index finger way up to the blue "T", see? Now that's hard work. But with the red "cjb" keys, you only use your left middle finger once to get to the red "C", and all your right index finger has to do is move slightly from the red "J" to the red "B" to get the letters "J" and "B". But from "J" to "7" would be an extra movement of your whole right hand, just to get to the damn "7". See? If you don't want to move your right hand, then you'll have to stretch your fingers waaay up. So, by trying to get the letters "xt7", you'd have to stretch your fingers twice! Therefore, it's not as easy as "cjb". :D

is2kool.com is, well, cool but like was mentioned before it has "2" and not only that, but "cool" spelled wrong (purposely, i know, go away). So people could get it confused by doing is2cool.com istookool.com .. you get the idea.

Hey what about *.psword.com ;)
