Sound in a buddy icon.

One of my friends has sound on their AIM buddy icon and I was just wondering how this was possible. The file types supported are .gif, .jpg, .bmp, .ico, and .xbm. Any idea how this is possible?

Isn't jpg dangerous because hackers can program scripts into it? Something like that. That's probably it.

No. But, if i remember right, there is a certain virus which, when it infects a windows box, allows JPEGs to be executable .... or something.

They had it in the old versions, but removed it in the newer ones.
