What is the best free host that puts no ads on your site and has a shorter domain name available

this should be in the Free Webspace forum (http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=2)

You'll need to be a bit more specific too. Do you just use HTML and images etc or do you need server side scripting (like ASP/PHP/Perl/etc)?

I don't really see the benifit of a short name, people are just going to bookmark a site if they like it and not type in addresses from memory.

For a short name use a redirector like www.ne1.net , www.dot.tk , or www.uni.cc

I think www.brinkster.com is the best host with no ads. It has 500mb of transfer tho, but also has ASP.

This hosting seems alright, just simply get a redirect URL, sub-domains are quite rare now.

It was banned because many people were complaining about the gator popup that they have had for months. Many use it in the site review forum for their sites and when people go to review it, they get this popup. A couple even said that gator installed inself.

Best free hosts so far ........www.host.sk ( but they give you a hard time signing up ) and <<removed>> ( wonderfull service sometimes anwer within an hour !!!!!!!)

yes that is the one i mean, wonderfull costumerservice, he/she will help wherever he/she can !! Never had such a good service before, i sure hope this free host will stay !

It's quite impossible to sign-up in host.sk, I didn't want to waste my time translating those. And for the redirect URL, I think www.ne1.net is pretty nice. name.ne1.net or name.r8.org

He is probably using a private or paid host. I don't know any hosts that are paid that put ads on sites.
