View Full Version : Looking for a host with high maximum file upload size..

I'm looking to host a 30 megabyte file on a free service - although most of the ones I've tried have upload limits (TopCities won't let me upload anything >900kb, for instance). The only service I know of without any type of upload limits is Crosswinds - and the reviews of it seem less that positive.. :) Are there any other services out there that will let me upload this 30 meg file? Thanks!

I doubt you would find a host (other than crosswinds) that would allow it. Perhaps an online file storage (http://www.freewebspace.net/guide/diskstorage.shtml) site?

Can't you split up the file into little ones ?
(with a file splitter)

Think prohosting might allow large files.

I think I'll try an online File Storage site. Any suggestions as to one with:

Easy (Quick) Upload / Download
Somewhat User Friendly
30+ Meg Space
and.. possibly.. one where the person who wants to download doesn't need to register (a la MySpace?)

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

NBCi (http://www.nbci.com) allows file sizes up to 11MB max w/ unlimited space. So you'll just have to split up your >11MB files into <11MB files.

I think Yahoo Briefcase doesn't need the person to register. But they only offer 25 megs, perhaps you could sign up for multiple accounts.

IDRIVE does.

Was very slow at one stage, but when I last tried it (a while ago) it wasn't so bad - 35kb/s

But people need to have an account at iDrive in order to download.

On Yahoo Briefcase it is Filesize restriction (each File max. 5MB) and Upload restriction. And they hang an extra bit on your file.

No they don't - you can browse IDRIVE folders without an account - but there is a 100mb daily transfer limit per account.

No ;)

Freedrive don't allow public sharing at all now do they?

On Yahoo Briefcase it is Filesize restriction (each File max. 5MB) and Upload restriction. And they hang an extra bit on your file. Well... Splitting up a file to smaller pieces isn't that difficult since you have to split it up anyways. (A 30 meg file uploaded in one huge chunk isn't that good of an idea)

By resplitting, you will have big trouble, because of this
extra Byte that Yahoo hangs on the files. Have made bad
experience with that.
