Actually i find f2s pretty fast but thats because im in the UK where they are based.

For what they charge u (nothing @ all), I would say they r fast. U can't expect the best speed when u don't pay them anything.

From the F2S signup page: "PLEASE NOTE: The new webservers are currently experimental - we expect them to be quite unstable for a few weeks. Only signup now if you do not mind lots of downtime!"

Of course, that message has been there for quite a few months.

I guess the reason it's slow, or at least slow for people on some of their later servers, is that these are "experimental" servers. They naturally aren't all that interested in making sure everything works perfectly for their free customers.

I find F2S to be just as fast as any other provider. But then again, I'm on 56k. But if the server is truly slow, I still notice it, and I don't seem to notice any slowdown.

Can't be so hard to setup. On my computer I got it installed in 2 minutes. Ok, it is a windows machine. But on linux, it can't be that hard!

can-host never told me teh server name or the mysql database and the mysql guy is out for another week =[

But V-ave overall is MUCH faster than F2S

Yeah virtualave is faster than f2s. Too bad they don't offer php or mysql.

From a dial-up user's point of view:

F2S may be slow, but it has no ads. That huge banner found on Virtualave would slow down its so-called "fastness." Therefore, they are about equal. And the one with no ads is less annoying too.
