what can you do with shells and why do they have space with them?

You can collect shells from the beach, and it takes up a lot of space. :p
Actually, I'm curious too. WTF are shell accounts? (or whatever they're called)

Shells are basically having control of another computer (hopefully with more functions than yours.) There, you can do "stuff" like lookup nameservers, go on IRC, blah and blah.

One of them is freeshell.org . I'm with that one now, and it seems fine. If I could only upload some files to the server :rolleyes:

Shells are useful if you want to use an Operating System like Unix or Linux but don't want to install it.
I suggest cyberspace.org or nether.net
What you do is you use Telnet (to run telnet go to your start menu, run, and type in "telnet") to connect to them, then you can use the terminal as if it were your own computer.
Pretty neat stuff, but useless unless you're a developer or somethign who wants to use their free compilers.
You really can't do much else with them.
