Ads (banners and popups) from the largest ad companies like commission junction, doubleclick, fastclick etc show up as broken images on my computer. I know I must have installed some ad blocking thing, but I can't find any such software on my computer...

I want the ads back as it slows down loading pages when it can't find the ad.

So, anyone got any idea on how to fix this?

Try these two programs to check for nasties on your PC, or try to remember what you installed :p

If you have downloaded Kazza lite they block the ad servers

visit www.k-lite.tk and check the faq

lol... yes thanks, that's it. I downloaded and uninstalled it some time ago. I've looked into the faq file. Now editing HOSTS file which it apparently did not remove.

Eh? FastClick is a wonderful advertiser. Peo wasn't trying to get rid of them or anything, it's just that some software he downloaded edits his HOSTS file and thus blocked some advertisers.

I think wojtek understood that. There is some reference to the same problem in the Fastclick thread he referred to.

Heh, I thought he wanted not to use FastClick. I didn't read the thread though.

Yeah, I have KaZaA Lite installed, too. At first I thought it was because of my DSL installation. I tried going to cj.com and it automatically redirects me to localhost. (I thought someone had bought me that domain .. lol :p )
