i have a 20gig HD partitioned into C (10gig) and D (10gig) and want to reformat, repartition and install XP

do i format C then D, then run FDISK to get rid of the partition, then repartition?

i want to do it so C only has XP on it (and maybe MS Office)...how may gigs should i allocate to C....should a 5/15 split be OK??

thanks

If you are going to delete the partitions, you don't even need to format before you do.Just delete the partitions, and then set your new ones... of course you'll have to format them afterwards.

It's always easier if you have something like Partition Magic, because then you could get away with just resizing them and stuff instead of getting rid of them.

5 gig will be plenty for Office and XP. I think my main PC has 5 gig for XP, and I have heaps of programs installed as well; and this one I'm on now has 2.5gig for the XP drive and it's running fine.
