Still no success. I have a Dimension XPS R3250 with Win98,
192M SDram.
It goes into POST and when it has detected the keyboard and mouse it hangs for 1.5 mins before carrying on to load Windows.

With my limited knowledge I can't find much wrong with the Autoexec.bat file. The startup Dir I hope is the Win Startup folder (only Microsoft Office in there). I don't know what the run keys in Registry are.

Bit baffling to say the least. I may have to live with it.

I had previously removed everything from its' case and put it into another new one and gradually bought new parts for it and then returned the borrowed parts back to the Dell case resulting in 2 p.c.s. It all worked quicker before it was removed.

Cheers Steve

Side Note -> Next time continue your old thread :)

Generally, after trying to detect keyboard/mouse, it detects hard disks, cdroms, dvd, etc.

What I suggest, open your case, and take out all the drives except the hard disk.

Try it then, if it works (loads fast), put back all the drives and try again. if it works, it was just a loose connection that made it wonder if its a real drive or no.

Another thing wich you might want to try first, is goto the bios, and enable all options that look similar to "quick boot" or something like this. Try that.
