This is a really odd problem I'm having...
I'm currently running my:
AMD Athalon XP 2200+
NVidia GForce2 MX/MX 400 64MB
Windows 2000
Gateway 2000 Vivitron 1776 monitor @ 60Hz
at 1280x1024 and I wanted to bump it up. I went up to 1600x1024 and it worked fine. But 1600x1200 didn't. So I bumped the colors down to 16 bit...still didn't work. I just tested it, I can go all the way to 1900x1080 @ 16bit and it'll work, but the more even resolutions won't. Why is this?

Because your monitor probably can't handle it.

It can handle 1900x1080 though...see, that's why I'm confused...

You take some from one side(width) and you add it to the other side(height). Then it's pretty much even.
