i want to have like a nameserver where i can host domains on my computer... my mom might switch to an isp that will allow me to run a server...

I don't see the point of setting up a nameserver on your computer, why don't you just use zoneedit?

cool webserver, don't even need to log into their stupid service, works as an excellent stand-alone server.

yeah, then use zoneedit.com to point to your ip address.

There is DNS2GO that's by Deerfield (they do email programs, ftp programs, etc).

whoops, didn't know they shut down. well, here's one of the more recent 24ware releases. it's a handy little server if you ask me:
