how does @home detect servers? do they just randomly visit all ips? or do they just investagate when people use X amount of bandwidth?

I really don't see a way of their knowing. How can they monitor millions of people and their bandwidth? I really don't see why or how they could put the money into that. I beileve when you call in for tech support through their phone lines, they do a quick checkup on your bandwidth used, illegal file uploads, ect..
The moral? Don't use tech support when your doing a no no ;)

I was using an excesive amount of bandwidth on my ftp and they sent me an email telling me that i was using to much bandwidth with my ftp/webserver ( I didnt have a webserver up at that point I do now). I sent a nasty email back to them and they never bothered me again. I even boosted the amount of users that I was allowing :). I think its pretty easy to detect if you are running a server or not. But you can always tell them its for personal use.

Well, in Canada they have rogers@home and shaw@home. It may be possible that they have a few different poilicies, but I doubt it. As for clawz.com, the speed is good. I am on his server right now, so I hope it won't shut down. But, there is no reason for it to not shut down. He is breaking the rules of the ISP.
