hi there,
I had a previous problem with nero, but that is fixed. I got a previous version of the program and now it works fine with the burner. BUT another problem poped-up. I had made a list of the songs etc, and i pushed the " burn" button and it started fine. After one song i got this red round icon with a white + in it saying "Buffer Underrun" something. And the burning thing has stopped working and i had to click "discard".
Anyone know what i should do? i have version 5.5.8.2 from Nero and Phillips CDRW800 burner. Thanks
Love,
Mirna

either the song is ----ed (yes it happens)
or
your burner has filled its buffer (did you use your comp while burning)

were you copying from cd to cd or from hard disk to cd? If it was from cd to cd try ripping it first, have heard from several people Nero messes up a lot with a direct cd copy.
Also try defragmenting or picking a lower speed to burn with.

I burn form hard disk to cd, but i did burned from my D:\ to a cd, while my nero program is on the C:\. That's because i have two harddisks.
I don't use my computer while burning. I close everything including MSN messenger, and i also cancell my TaskPlanner (don't know if i translate it in the right way), the small icon in the lower right corner from my screen, next to the volume icon because i had problems with that one before while burning.
My speed is set at 4.800 kb/s , is that too much? also
"Remove silence at the end of *.cda tracks" is checked. The reading speed is set to 32x (4.800 KB/s)
I dunno if those 2 harddisks have anything to do with it. On my D:\ i store all the files etc. My programs are on the C:\
Thanks for helping me

Try setting the burn speed to 600kb/s. That's what I use and I rarely get coasters (screwed up CDs).

Ben thanks for your help but it didn't worked. I made a screenshot from what i got after burning at a slower speed etc. It's attached in this message.
Anyone else that knows? Someone told me buffer had something to do with that there where things waiting, that there where files on hold ya know. I dont know if this had anything to do with it, but maybe you?
Thanks again

I'm not sure what to do, lowering the burn speed has always fixed buffer underruns for me.

Well that's allright. I will call someone for that then. Thanks for your help, i really appreciate it. I was gonna call someone earlier because my mom wanted so, but i wanted to do it myself first before i go buggin that guy that installed everything for me again. LoL it was worth giving a try :)
Thanks again!

have you tried using a program other then Nero to burn cd's with?

No i haven't tried other programs but i've good news:
the problem is fixed. I feel kinda dumb. I called this boy i know who knows computer things very well. And he tried burning from cd to cd and he also selected the option that calculates the speed for the burning. And that worked
So when he was gone i tried burning from harddisk to cd WITH that option selected and it worked. It all went fine
I kinda feel dumb now haha, i'm sorry! but you guys really helped me! So it's all fixed now... finally :D

around 4x
but the weird thing was when i tried that speed without that 'calculating speed' option it didn't worked either. But o well, now it works fine.

I had that burner. It would ONLY burn at 4x without getting Buffer Underrun. The reason is that the buffers on these things is only like 1024kb or maybe 512kb. Sorry and cheap thing. It eventually broke (quit reading my cds, wouldn't do anything) and Philips tried to get me to send it back to them, then they would make me pay for a refurbished one. I eventually got an external Buslink usb 2.0 drive that has been working great at 12x!!! Take my advice-get a new drive (from anyone except philips!!!!!)

I got this burner for free (i have got some nice neighbours), so as long it burns i'm not gonna get another one :)
Anywayz, i don't really care about the speed. As long as i can burn i'm happy ! You have those people that want to burn a cd between 5 minutes or otherwise they get mad etc. That's so stupid, i don't really care if i have to wait 15 minutes. I care more about the music :D
