Not a bad idea. Maybe I'll go down once I turn 21...granted I'll turn 21 after next year's Mardi Gras, but it'd be a great experience.

I was in New Orleans just before christmas, and it was great.

Apparently that's the low season, so I can only imagine what high tourist time is like.

I'll probably go once i'm 21 as well. I'll enjoy a couple years of legal age here, and then I'll experience the magic all over again down there.

When I was still living in Louisiana, we would go just about every year. Believe me, the traffic was hell. People parked on both of the sides of two lane streets, effectively making it a one way street with people trying to go both ways.

On a side note, one year someone sitting in the neutral grounds hung a pair of rubber boobs on a Port - A - Potty. :biggrin2:

CareBear: It's a religious holiday the day before Ash Wednesday (March 5th this year). A fast starts on Ash Wednesday, so a long time ago a bunch of people in French influenced areas (Like Louisiana) got together and ate to the point of explosion (not really, but you get the idea). Over time it has evolved into just a big party, since not many people are THAT religious anymore, and has spread to other areas, not just French-influenced areas.
