I am looking to setup my first web site for my small business. I need a stable free host if there is such a thing. I don't want to have to constantly move my site. I also need FrontPage extensions. Banner ads ok but no pop-ups....I hate those things. Thanks in advance for any advice.

The words "stable" and "free host" do NOT belong in the same sentence. If it's a small business, might I recommend a cheap paid host. Atleast they are more reliable.

That's not true? tripod.com has banner ads and has frontpage extensions.

Never mind the frontpage....it is probably time to learn to do it the right way. What I need is a free or really cheap site with 20Meg and decent speed. Thanks for the help.

Does tripod allow me to use my own domain name?

Probably your only choice left...

No, Tripod doesn't host domains.

If you want to find a cheap paid host, you can try asking in the Paid Hosting forums.

You could always join Yahoo! Geocities, and then pay for more space; it isn't really expensive, and they're pretty stable for my little homepage. I think they also have FrontPage extensions. However, if you're really going to have a small business site, you would do better to go with a paying web host. You aren't going to get the reliability you want with a FWP. Plus, who would you have more confidence buying from, whether online or off? Take these two examples, of CandyMan Inc. two different ways:

With FWP:

http://www.geocities.com/candyman/
candyman@yahoo.com (or something else)

With a Pay Host:

http://www.candyman.com
candyman@candyman.com

I mean, think about if Amazon.com were http://www.geocities.com/amazondotcom/... :)

Usually, a beginner does not have a credit card.

Man Lex....Now you are making me feel old. Just because this will be my first web site doesn't mean I am a kid. Someone please tell me I am not the only adult here....*sigh*
Thanks for everyone's input...I really appreciate it.
