my PC died on me and is in the repair shop....the dude has given me 2 options of what i can do and i REALLY need your opinions

my motherboard and graphics card have died

option 1=new motherboard with built-in 32MB graphics card (1 year warranty)

option 2=second hand motherboard (3 month warranty) with a new 62MB GeForce 2 MX 400 graphics card (3 year warranty)

price is not an issue....do i go for the new motherboard with the lesser graphics, or the second hand motherboard with the better graphics card??

pleeeeease help :confused2

Neither...

But i guess go with the onboard as you can always disable it.

Well ask him what chipset the new motherboard with built-in graphics.

If your running AMD, I'd suggest using an Nforce or Nforce2 chipset.

If your running Intel, I'd suggest SiS or Intel chipset.

Also ask him if the onboard 32mb graphics uses shared ram or has it's own set.

thanks daniel...that makes a bit more sense to me now

the m/board with built in 32mb graphics uses shared ram and has a VIA chipset

the second hand m/board has a genuine intel chipset

......and i had to give him an answer ASAP...so i went with the 2nd hand intel m/board and the new 64MB GeForce 2 graphics card with TV out

:D i want to attach my pc to my tv so i can watch dvd's on my tv...my pc probably won't be fast enought for it, but hey, i can try at least

thanks for your help

On the graphics cards I would go with the Geforce 4, if you have HDTV, becuase I think it has a port for those types of monitors.

Good choice N7of9.

VIA chipset, regardless of what platform = bad.

Intel chipset are usually prety good.
