thanks to everyone who helped me out with my "overclocking" and "2 monitor questions" threads, I have finally made up my mind. Today, I put in an order to get the following system:
Pentium 4 3.06 GH (will attempt to overclock to around 4 GHz once I get the machine this weekend)
Gigabyte 8PE667 Ultra 2
120 gig seagate Serial ATA HD
Asus 128mb GF Ti4200
512 MB PC3200 DDR400 Ram
17" Mitsubishi LCD
52x24x52 Sony CD writer
16x Sony DVD Rom
56K Nettcom Int modem
Soundblaster Audigy
that's it.
thanks again for previous helps

Just so you know, Hell will have frozen over long before you reach anything even remotely close to 4 GHz with that setup.
The Gigabyte 8PE667 has an absolute maximum FSB of 147. So 147 * 23 (multi) = a maximum of 3381 MHz. However, you can't even expect that with the stock HSF.
3.2GHz is about what you should expect to get...
It's still a nice rig, but the price to performance ratio = teh no.
Just my 2 cents. (+shipping and handling where applicable).

How much did you pay?
Btw, you shouldn't try to overclock a computer that you didn't build yourself. That's not [H]...

And the sound blaster series is horrible, go for the santa cruz or gamexp..
I just put it in my system today over the SBL 5.1, god it is so much better, i can actually hear from my center speaker

well, I think Gigabyte 8PE667 Ultra 2 is different to 8PE667. It allows manual alteration of FSB to greater than 147 ( http://tw.giga-byte.com/home/eztune4/et4_index.htm ).
And a stable speed of 4.1 GHz has been reached in experiment ( http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDE5 )
Anyway, just on the system: it cost 3600 dollars ( Australian). One of my friend will assemble it at my place for 100 dollars (Australian)
As for soundcard, I don't really care what it is. It is not important for my needs

Yes, but they were also using a $550 VapoChill PE unit as well. There is no way possible for anyone to reach those speeds on air.

just a thought, since you've been spending a lot, why dont you go broadband instead a of 56K modem.

hi, I still use 56k because ADSL is still relatively expensive in Australia. To get decent transfer per month, it can cost up to 100 Australian dollars per month whilst dial-up cost only 20 dollars for unlimited download.
by the way, I changed the mother board to ASUS P4G8X delux which will support my 400mhz DDR Ram and easier for overclocking

Sigh...
Probably the most you'll ever attain using that chip is 150 fsb on air.
Have fun...
