Hi,

i downloaded The Ring and i wanted to see it but when i was opening it it says "downloading" and "Waiting for answer..." and then "found site" etc just like when you open an internet page. But after founding 2 site's it says this error:

Unable to Download Appropriate Decompressor.

i searched the web, and it says tons of things that i could install again etc. But before i put all this junk on my computer i want to know first if i'm maybe missing something or what? I never installed something for movies, i don't even know if i can watch a movie on this computer haha but o well i just wanted to try it out.

program: Windows media Player
version: 6.4

i never updated it, it just came with windows 98 and that's how i use it too for playing music. I can hear the sound of the movie, but don't see anything. Thanks !

Love,
Mirna

DivX (http://www.divx.com) will most likely be the one you need. Get the free/lite version from the downloads and install it and then try playing it again.

I don't think your allowed to discuss warez in here.

There can only be 2 codecs that are in regular use:

1) DivX
2) Xvid

Google for them and you'll find them.
