Gaming Source was released a few days a go with some good appeal from the public. I'm not the owner, but a good friend and thought I'd help the group out by giving them some exposure :)

Gaming Source offers:

300MB Space (upped depending on traffic)
6GB Bandwidth (Upped depending on traffic)
ASP, PHP4, Perl 5, your own CGI-BIN, MySQL
Unlimited POP3 accounts, email forwarding, email aliases and web-based email
Unlimited 24/7 FTP access
Unlimited sub-domains at YOUR control!
Protected directories
Personalised error pages
Free domain name (for Source fansites)
Domain name hosting for non-source sites, or http://www.gamingsource.co.uk/yoursite
Free DNS changes and domain hosting

They ask that your site is already up somewhere and complete for review, so if it isn't up already you need to get it on a free host like Geocities or Tripod (they don't care which free host).

They know that the majority of companies who have offered "unlimited bandwidth" have either gone back on their word, radically changed it by adding so much advertising it's stupid or have gone (or are going) bankrupt. I know for a fact that GameSpy, who pride themselves in their resources are having real problems at the moment. Gaming Source are quite flexible, and if your site is getting good amounts of traffic then they're happy to up this amount.

Its all free, although they ask you carry the gaming source button somewhere on your site template and you also need to use the pop-UNDER code. My sites use pop-under advertising and its much better than both 486x60 banners and pop-up...I barely even notice it until I close IE.

Either way, go check them out :)

What do you mean 'Free domain name (for Source fansites)'? Is "Source" a game?

Important for some people here:
4. The site must be in English only. If we don't understand what's on the site, how are we to know you're following the rules properly? ;-)

Perhaps it would be easier if your friend joined FWS, that way he could answer the questions directly :classic2:

Well, they don't know I'm doing this at the moment, but I pretty much know everything about the service at the moment (I work at their datacentre).

I know for a fact that they're accepting nearly all completed gamesite applications at the moment, including clans and mods, and have even helped out a few people with their sites.

Hi folks,
As requested, I have come to make myself known to you all. I am Rob (another Rob ;)). I do general admin for Gaming Source, help review the sites and work on new site designs for current members.

If anyone has any questions about the hosting, who we accept or anything else, don't hestitate to ask :)

Just give us a little time, we'll probably set-up your account sometime during the day, but due to the amount of applications we've had, it just takes a little time.

Yup, I'm one of the admins. Told "GamingSource" to take a breather ;)

Black, we're sorting out your FTP info. and permissions now, and no, we have no intention of moving from Ensim to CPanel.

I'm thinking of making a specific website for Age of Mythology, plus a host of shockwave addicting games. (I've already got it half done) Please tell me if you already have a site like this so I can know whether to submit it.

I'm not a good visual designer but I like to keep it simple and filled with content. I'm working right now final exams but after those I will have it up and running in no time.

If you want to see my shockwave section (which is online right now) please see www.magictrading.net. The age of mythology section is in development but as I said I am focusing on exams right now.

Please let me know

er i think they dont have age of myth. But no to the shockwave stuff. dont go eating resources.

Shockwave doesn't eat resources...it's a quick couply hundred k download and that's it....

Of course, if I have to remove it that's fine, I just need hosting.

I understand this is a mega-bump but it needs to be said as this topic in these forums comes up under free hosting by gamingsource.

This is our review of the horrible hosting we received from Gaming Source.
