View Full Version : Avoid Ikonboard!

I've had it with Ikonboard and their complete lack of support. I've been waiting months for responses to two support tickets (after others had been closed, uncompleted). I've posted at least once a month asking why there hasn't been a response and still nothing.

Here's a little background info... last year Ikonboard agreed to upgrade one of my boards to the latest version. Apparently they let a new, unqualified, support member attempt the upgrade, although he had no idea what he was doing. He proceeded to delete the database and wouldn't admit any wrong doing for several days. My host only keeps 24hr backups, so I thought all was lost. Through some miracle, I was able to get it restored, that guy booted off the support team and was able to receive personal attention from one of their best guys... That person; however, has disappeared & nobody knows what happened to him. There are still many flaws w/ the board that are probably easy for them to fix, but they won't. They won't fix their own mistakes. Now they won't even respond to support tickets. How irresponsible and unprofessional can you get??

So, I'm spreading my little story, as I said I would, and I hope that nobody will support Ikonboard, or Jarvis Entertainment Group, in any way.

How much did you pay them?

Nothing. They agreed to do it for free.
That still doesn't excuse what happened & the fact that they don't answer the support tickets I've posted.
There was a point where I would have paid for them to fix it, but that has long since passed...I'd rather pay for vBulletin :)

Considering you didn't pay I think that entitles them to not give you support...

I don't think they should be judged off of what they are doing for free and that would in fact make me feel a little more confident knowing they use there time towards paying customers not the people who they are doing favors for

So you think it's okay for a company to agree to do something, then nearly ruin a major part of your site, and then refuse to fix it even though it was their fault & they are more than capable?

You're absolutely right in that they didn't need to give me free help. Your also right, in that it's a good thing to devote more time to paying customers. The simple fact is that we had an agreement. A contract if you will. For them to make my message board less than it was before displays very questionable business ethics.

It's easy to say now, after the fact, that maybe I should have paid. Maybe they shouldn't have helped me. Maybe. Legally speaking, what we had was a binding contract...so there's really nothing to dispute...
