give me step by step directions. i added this to httpd.conf:

AddHandler server-parsed .shtml
AddType text/html shtml

but ssi doesn't work.

i am guessing that maybe i need some kind of plug-in or add-on...

well it is just editing the http.conf file, i forget what exactly you have to edit. try just searching for "adding ssi to apache".
