Cool! I'll go try it out now. I hope it doesn't take up as much RAM as beta 2 did.

Yep, looks cool. Maybe I'll try it. The last version I got I never really tried.

Cool, using it right now. Good sound! For some reason, most mp3 players(sonique, winamp, napster internal) give me lots of static. The only one that doesn't is WMP7, but it takes for freaking ever to load. But broid works good. Easy to use, and has all the features I need, and none more. Keep up the good work!

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your encouragement. More features and stability issues are under the works and Beta 4 should be out in a few weeks. To stay up-to-date on broid's developement you may register (free) from the program's .web interface.
Stay tuned!

Im downloading it right now...thank goodness for download accelerator...the download only goes 2k/sec and im on cable!! im used to geting over 300k/s, sorry thats just one thing annoying to me...now lets see hhow the software adds up...The app is really good, great quality and the idea of being able to add all the lyrics/pics/etc is great...consider putting the download on a better server heh maybe listing with download.com and tucows.com

Just wondering:
With which release are you going to port the software to C or C++ or some code other than Visual Basic? I am anticipating that release.

broid.com is hosted at freeservers.com, so you can imagine. I'll be migrating to a new server soon. broid is already listed at mpegx.com, dailymp3.com and mp3.box.sk. CNet, ZDNet and others are in the queue.

broid is based on collaborated hybrid technologies. What that means is that it uses modules written in various languages like: C++, Delphi, MMB, VB etc. Down the line I'll probably give up VB which I used just to meet the deadlines :-)
Infact, once the source code is released under GPL you all can contribute to it.

What do you expect the file size to be when it reaches final? And the RAM and CPU usage? Sorry for sounding picky, but I'm looking everywhere for a good MP3 that doesn't hog all my system resources.

WinAmp hogs resources? Never really noticed...

I expect the package size (main executable + supporting modules & dll's) to be around 2MB for release 1.0 final. Currently the RAM/resource usage is less that Lycos Sonique and by a final release I should be able to bring it even down. WinAmp 2.x is great at managing resources but I have to wait & watch as to what turns out after they launch release 3 which by the way has been completely re-written.

Hmm.... I've had it running on my old 486DX2/66mhz... ran smoothly as far as I could tell. And only 4MB RAM too. Oh, and my dad later upgraded it to 8MB worth of RAM.

most windows programs use whats available...whats the use of ram just sitting there when it can be put to use?

How much resources are you talking? Get MemTurbo if you worry about resources so much. Since I got it, I have never had to restart because of apps not responding, and crap like that. And an mp3 player is the core of any operating environment, so if it uses too much ram, you may need to use notepad instead of some fancy html editor(unless, of course, you are already a notepader.) I checked it out when I loaded broid, and it used about 4 MB of ram. Not much.

MemTurbo slows down your computer more than speeding it up. I use FreeMem Pro, it's much better. The first Broid beta used up 12 megs of RAM, that's why I enquired about its resource usage. But from your reports on it using only 4 megs, I believe it is getting better.

Well, I don't know if it was really 4 MB. I was just reading the meter in memturbo as I opened it. I'll try FreeMem Pro.

Yeah, from my experience, MemTurbo takes up more RAM than it frees. But it has more features than FreeMem Pro though.

Just curious Coolin, which tool did you use to measure this figure. Anyways, Beta 3 is comparatively more effecient & optimized. I'm working hard on making it as sleek as possible.

I have FreeMem Pro running and when I opened Broid, my RAM went from 40 something to 30 something (I forgot). But I remember that the difference was 12. That's how I got my figure.

Thanks. I'll give its shot too, although I use MS-Performance Analyzer and Memory Analyzer.

I guess I'll test the resource usage of Broid beta 3 now. I'll report my findings as soon as I find them.
