Yahoo! is apparently getting into the porn business. If the copyright issues didn't make it, this does. Dredging up that Yahoo! boycott might not be such a bad idea after all. They've got a right to sell what they want...and I have a right to leave. For heaven's sake, wouldn't you think that the ruckus raised over their TOS in '99 was enough?

Victoria, imagine that pretty soon they will put porno banners on every site hosted by their free services. How about a site for kids with a banner on top: "Come and lick my ***"

But anyway... their service is great!

It's their business. They gotta make money somehow.
I bet people would whinge and complain even more if yahoo went down the toilet.

Yahoo going in the porn business? This is the end of the internet as we know it. If the internet's most important company goes into the porn business, so it every other company.

The internet wouldn't be where it was today if it wasn't for the pr0n industry... read an article about that somewhere once.

You speak as if porn is such a bad thing! :) Come on, 96% of the population enjoys porn (the other 3% just can't get hold on any, 1% more is in denial). I think.

yahoo has been in the porn business... search for a word that might be adult related and you get porn ads... they allow porn clubs...

pr0n on the web is pretty bad (and boring IMO). It's the real thing that makes it all nice and exciting. :D:D

It's a shameful thing to make money off of pr0n, IMO... I can't believe this is Yahoo! Pretty bad stuff they're doing here....

Its not the porn itself that is so bad, but the fact that it sees like a desparate, or greedy move in terms of income.
as news of this gets more widely spread Yahoo's G rated image will be marred.

Greedy? Didn't you read? Yahoo's losing money; however, I don't think this is a good idea, either. I'm sure there are other companies who do porn better, anyway. This will just mar their image.

Now I heard a news headline that they were taking it off.
(Maybe that was their real plan...to get publicized...:)

Yahoo may be backing off, but we now know that Yahoo would do such a thing. Their image is marred forever...

Why is it shameful to make money from porn, as compared to creating fake sites with clickheretofind links to make money? At least Yahoo! was honest in dealing with porn - yes siree, you want porn, we'll sell porn, no BS.

Anyway, they're stopping it, so it's a moot discussion. But you guys should stop going all knee-jerk over porn. It's the only thing that makes money online nowadays, and if you are a legitimate porn dealer, to me that makes you a nicer person that those who buy pokemon domains and use it to redirect it to some clickheretofind/commission-for-webmaster links. The latter only adds to the BS detritus on the web.

PS: I'm not Mr Yahoo CEO's mother by the way :)

Yahoo was not secure when having its porn on there, anyone could access it and any minor with an fake account with the parents credit card could buy it, not that I ever done that before... :)
