Hello to all,

I would like to design websites for small businesses for a few friends of mine and hopefully expand my services out in the future. Desiging the web sites is not the problem... it's where do I start, as far as hosting them?

Currently I'm dabling with building my site in Brinkster's free hosting area with intent to upgrade somewhere to a paid, reliable hosting service.

But where would you recommend hosting my web dev services... what company do you recommend for hosting sites... both my own and my clients? One other thing, I would like a host that supports ASP since that is what I like to code in.

Here's one more point, I would like the ability to offer clients both their own domain name (www.myclientsname.com) and the a domain built off of my site at a cheaper rate (www.mysite.com/myclientsname). I'm not sure if this is important info for your response.

Any advice or links to "how to host and design websites" would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time and input.

You might look into getting yourself a reseller account somewhere. You purchase this account and then add your own accts. at a discounted price. Theres also other options now as well...something like multiple domain hosting might work for you. You have one chunk of space, one price, then divide it up amongst your client sites. I think www.resellerconnection.com may give you some good info

Before you go looking for a host, check their background a bit. See, lately there has been a lot of companies who have been ripping people off by creating accounts on already oversold machines hench making the reliability ridiculously terrible.

Also, if you do indeed go with a reseller's plan, make sure you know what you are getting into. You need a bit of background on how hosting works before you can jump right into it. This way, when something comes up, you will know what to do. :)
