And I'm sure, without clicking on that link, that they went into the Greek roots of the words actually used and found that translation, didn't they?
English != Greek, the meanings can be very different.

I'm sure magicians had been around for some time in numerous forms, JC just perfected the art. :classic2:

I agree with he who is notnamed. There were translations issues.

That would be true, however, they didn't use Greek back then, the language of the saints and gods were Latin.

The Acts of John are a part of the Apocrypha. Held as divine scripture by Catholicism but rejected by Protestants and their offshoots. A source noting the basis for the rejection of the Apocrypha can be found here (http://www.apuritansmind.com/Apologetics/ApocryphaMainPage.htm). I have not read this article in its entirety.

As it relates to the language of the scriptures: The Old Testament portion known as the Torah was written in Hebrew. No doubt the other portions were written in Hebrew, Greek or Aramaic. The New Testament was written in Greek or Aramaic. Translations abounded in Latin until the end of the dark ages.

Read up on the integrity of the Apocrypha and read your Bible. Try your Bible and find it true. If it's not(in the case of the Apocrypha) be aware of what exactly your religion is saying and if it is right or not. Christians should not be blind followers.

Go Matt! :biggrin2:
Yes, the original New Testament was in Greek...Latin was certainly not prevalent in Jewish society.

The Old Testament was in Greek.
The New Testament is in Latin. I may be atheist, but I am almost certain that the Old Testament was almost entirely written in Hebrew, and the New Testament was in Greek (Paul's books were all in Greek). Latin plays no role in the Bible.
