for ----'s sake, over the past few months we've managed to lose Dusty, Stu, and now Bruce. Thanks to all the members that pretty much pushed some of the better posters on the board over the edge and convinced them to leave  Wonderful...

As long as your staying for a bit longer all is good. But yeah i agree with everything you have said. Some members on this board (you know who you are) really need to grow up a bit and start acting more mature.
There that's my rant over and done with.

Well, I know that I haven't seen Dusty and stu around, but did they make some kind of an announcement? :cry2:

Ah, I found the thread:

The rest of you I shall miss; please don't feel your presence has anything to do with my decision. I do hope to see you again.

I think it is because the older members are maturing and can't cope with the type of comments that they used to post a couple of years ago ;)

Nice to know Jan admits she's not mature. (I meant that in a good way, not in a bad way)

I think you guys are misunderstanding me, a few have admitted embarrassment by their early day's posts, now more youngsters are coming in and "talking" like they did way back then. In time these newer members will also mature and look on the "newbies" as immature. C'est la vie. :classic2:

After seeing the attitude to some members, and this forum is getting bored to some extent where all the top posters have long left, I think I'm going too. Not to mention I am not really happy with some member's attitude, although I will not name them.
Bye guys I may post again or read this forum again but I guess its time to move on.

Even the youngsters are leaving... :cry2:
Personally, I am displeased with the attitude of some members on this forum too, but I believe that it's all a normal part of a message board. Without the pests, spammers, and nuisances, you really don't have a "fun" message board, do you?

I have found also that this message board is getting a little much...I disagree with you, conker. If it was just a little and then they got banned, well yeah that's normal. But what's been happening around here...iunno. I'm not to the point where I'm up and leaving, because none of it has really angered me personally.
But hmm...you don't think that it all sprang up because of disagreements in the War and Peace threads doyah? I know, not all of them could, but some of them...
Just a thought.

Yeah you get to a certain point where most posts seem a bit childish to you, although they seem quite mature to the poster.
On the other hand, maybe it's just hard for me to really be interested in childish/newbie posts since I have never posted such posts myself. I was born grown up :p
What kind of posts do I see most?
P1) NEW FREE HOSTING!!!
Give you blah blah everything blah blah
P2) There's no way you can last, you'll close within a month.
P1) Nope, we have a good plan, we will be around a very long time.
[Month later]
P1) ANNOUNCEMENT:: We are shutting down due to [Pick One: abuse, No money, hardware/software troubles, etc, etc.]
P2) Well it sucks they are closing their doors.

personally.. i don't see how something as small as that bother a person so much that he had to leave.. i mean sure some people may be annoying, immature etc.. but so what? ignore them.. you don't HAVE to be insulted or disturbed by their posts.. i think the few of u that are leaving coz of this are just making it a bigger deal than it is or you are crying for attention..a big kiss goodbye (no offense inteded.).. i just think you all need to relax a little.. sit back and enjoy the forum..

OK, apparently I can't leave here permanently. My inbox simply isn't large enough for this to be possible. After careful consideration and many emails, I suppose me leaving is not the best solution to any of this. I will say, however, that many good members have left, but I don't think I need to be one of those. At least not yet... there are still many helpful people here, and I should'nt let a few people ruin a good thing.
I think it is because the older members are maturing and can't cope with the type of comments that they used to post a couple of years agoJan, never once did you seize to humor me. I'll be the first to admit that I've grown much since my first posts here. Sure, as I look back on my posts I'll think to myself "I posted that?", but it's nothing that'll really embarass me because I know that I've grown and I know that I didn't really know any better then. This incident really has nothing to do with that though. My issues with (a) certain member(s) here also goes far beyond what you and the rest have seen on the forums, but we really don't need to get into that now or ever.
But hmm...you don't think that it all sprang up because of disagreements in the War and Peace threads doyah? I know, not all of them could, but some of them...
Just a thought.Notnamed, I honestly couldn't say. Obviously my incident could not have because I never read a single one. Even if I was the least bit interested in the war (which I'm not), I don't think participating in such threads would do much good for either person involved. Obiously the war is a very emotional thing for people (unless you're like me, heh) and you are going to have strong and differing opinions. That is something that can tear apart a community.
personally.. i don't see how something as small as that bother a person so much that he had to leave.. i mean sure some people may be annoying, immature etc.. but so what?Netnexus, in my case, my issues with (a) particular member(s) is not just confined to the event(s) that have taken place on these forums. It goes way beyond that, and these events have just accumulated over time to a point where something has to be done.
ignore them..Thank you. This is the same response I've received in a few emails, but it isn't always that easy. Ignoring members on the forum shouldn't be too difficult (I heard there's even some sort of feature for that too), but when it involves (a) forum member(s) outside of the forums, it gets to be a problem. However, I now realize I shouldn't let off-forum problems, even if they may be with (a) forum member(s), interfere with the mostly good thing we have going here on these forums.
There is always going to be a few bad apples in an orchard, and the right choice would just be for me, or anyone else in the same predicament as me, to ignore them.
Now please excuse me while I check back into my room and figure out how to work this darn ignore feature.

I'll be the first to admit that reading back on some of my older posts makes me want to leave out of pure embarassment.
I'll also be the first to admit that many of my current posts are less than mature.
no worries, though... just trying to fit in ;)

Ditto
BRUCE, the ignore feature is this:
Click PROFILE, scroll to the bottom, and click "Add to ignore list"
To manually add them / remove them go to user cp > ignore list

Fun? Throwing insults at one another fun? It's not that...I think that having controversy is good for a message board. Boards that don't have that are bland and boring. It's just not fun to post there. Believe me, "What is your favorite type of music" threads get really boring after a while.
I don't think that problems sprung up from the war threads. We've been having political debates for a long time here. Back in the days when we had GC around, there were fierce debates on this forum, but nobody ever got hurt. Everything else on the forum functioned as normal. I must say, however, that the general quality of posts here has been steadily declining ever since GC left. I don't know why, either...

I dunno... it was so much fun to see everyone get so riled up about a certain person who I shall refer to by the name that someone else made up for him: "Captain Sodomy". we had fights every day and they would all end up with a talk/lecture about
A) BullFighting
B) Argentina or Spain's Economy/Government/Military
C) Homosexuality
D) Abuse of him
...Remind me if I left something out.
