Both are using bright color try using dull color a bit!!

On the first one, the green is anoying like you said, I wouild change it or do something with it.

For the second one, the blue is to bright on the black background.

I think I will eventually change http://thefanzone.com, to the other design or something similar. So basically you just don't like the colors? I will see what I can do. Any more feedback is welcome...

I'd have to say that both need a better color scheme. Try something a little less bright.
