I was just wondering what everyone (non uk) thought, knew, was told about the UK.

Is there any good / bad things you can tell me.

I did hear somewhere (from a non UK'ian) that the Uk was famous for it's green and pleasent (SP?) land.

Not true . . is can sometimes be very clear, and sunny . . but then again there is alot of traffic fumes, like most major cities.

In my experiance London is gray, wet and misurable. Double digits was a joyas occassion [C].

The people dont give a ---- about anything else, they always queue and always expect the best of everyting.**

Transport is real great, except out of hours.

What is it with poms and queing?***

Currency is ok, the VAT is included in price tags. [that really pissed me off in usa]

The roads are better quality, but the drivers are 10x worse. I heard that there is always a hold up on the M25.

Bruce: FYI, 110V or whatever it is, is substandard. Most of the rest of the world do use 250.

**= Poms in Disney/Universal florida are known for there "pommyiness". Never happy with the best there is.
Worst Race of Tourists in most Floridas residents eyes.

***= Before boarding on the flight from Florida to England the flight was delayed 1hr+. There was no way the flight was boarding for another 2hrs, but lo and be hold, poms were lining up. And they were for 2hrs and even more, as most of them were seated towards the front of the aircraft.

Ile add more later :bandit2:

At least more people in the UK have functioning brains as does the US.

Yes, I'm implying people from the UK tend to be more intelligent and can think for themselves and not be influenced by whatever...the media, other people, etc.

all i know about the UK is what the English backpackers who come to Australia in drones every summer portray....loud piss-heads who leave garbage everywhere and don't shower

its not that i don't like English people, its just that i don't like English backpackers who try to get by on $5 a day!!

Over here in the UK, it is not dull, miserable, crap... It's quite sunny today in the south coast. :p

The reason why the traffic is so high is because of the amount of cars on the road, the entire M25 encircles entire London, busiest motorway in the world. :biggrin2:

- at least the UK 'has' weather - most countries only have a climate.
- the UK speaks english, the language it invented, as will the whole world someday.
- money follows the american decimal system, an 20p is more useable than a quarter.
- if the cars are screwed then so are all 4X4 cars an those with removable wheels an disk brakes as all were invented in the UK.
- wrong side, its a matter of perspective surely.
- 911>999, as the british invented the telephone they're entitled to name it whatever.
- the UK also invented the electirc motor an other electic devices so the voltage used cant be 'that' wrong.!

PS - the UK / british also invented Coca-Cola, the so called 'taste of america' .....hahahaha:)

without weather there is no climate...

English wasn't pulled out of thin air by some guy in the UK, but rather imported from germany france and latin speaking regions, and refined over several centuries.

20p would be a lot less usable in an American vending machine than would 25 cents.

british sports cars rule... when they run.

maybe that would explain the "bad teeth" rumour. To correct-
1- weather doesnt cause a climate, but its absense allows only a climate to occur.
2- i never said it was pulled out of the air. It was neither imported like you say. It was assimilated an refined by british people over 1500 yrs. Also latin plays only a minor part, an you forgot Nordic an celtic!
3- i was refering to numeric useability - silly boy.
4- most sportcars 'dont run' to well, only the japs bucked the trend.
5- thanx
6- i agree
7- bad teeth applies to mainly scotland due to their dietry habits.

re conkermanic-
Yeah, but by your logic, everyone should drive on the right-side of the road and have their seat on the left because America invented the car.
A Brit invented the telephone, but the British did not. Alexander Graham Bell, a Scot, invented the telephone while he was in America.
To correct here-
1- america didnt invent the car, germany did.
2- a Scot is automaticaly british since scotland has been part of Britian since 40,000 BC, an policitcally joined since 1706.
He was not american, just like Eienstien was a german jew, NOT a american.
This is why neither could run for president the way clint eastwood could, coz HE is american - not just some european immigrant.
[although the colonists were :D]

Daniel

Regardless, the British didn't invent the telephone. The telephone was invented, patented, and spread in the US and Canada first, then expanded over to England and the rest.
