I run a website that is currently hosted on freeservers as www.4horsemen.4t.com..I am thinking of getting a domain name (.com or .net) and need some questions answered

1. if i register this domain, say for example 4horsemen.com (whch is taken i know) will i be able to direct it to my website at 4horsemen.4t.com? and if so, will the url in the address bar remain as 4 horsemen.com or will it change to 4horsemen.4t.com?

2. if for some reason my website goes down or crashes, will i be able to change the redirection of 4 horsemen.com so that it will move people to another website? and can i continously change this if i ever need to?

where is the cheapest place to get a domain that will do the above? i was thinking of namecheap.com but i would appreciate feedback on this as this would be my first time..i dont want any tricks or anything..something simple, reliable and easy to do

thanx :cool2:

hi,

1, you need a freehost the host domains,
2, you need from your host 2 nameserver

example:

you buy by namecheap (a good company) the domain,
you have bei namecheap the 2 nameserver to your domain to register.

its simple, your need help, ask

Freeservers will allow you to use your own domain name at the time of registration, but if you're on a free account check first if they will let you switch to using a domain as you already have an account.

To be honest (if you're on a free account) you'll probally find it much easier just to register a new hosting account with them and move your files, as you'll probally have to wait ages for an awnser to any email about the above question.

Once you purchase and register the domain from a company like namecheap.com for example, in your control panel/options from the register company you need to direct the domain to your hosts nameservers, these should be mentioned in the F.A.Q or when you sign up and choose to use your own domain.

Once the dns has resolved to those nameservers (can take up to 72 hours) the host should have done everything else needed to have the domain working on your account.
