"Australia's 14 F/A-18s flew into their home base of Tindal in the Northern Territory last night, ending a four-month tour of duty during which they became the first Australian bombers to see combat since Vietnam.

Today the fighter-bombers staged a spectacular fly-over at Tindal as remaining members of the RAAF squadron touched down aboard a Qantas Boeing 767 for an emotional reunion with their families.

Around 250 men and women were welcomed home in today's ceremony - the first of many expected over the coming weeks and months as Australia's 2000-strong contingent returns from the war."
