.cc
.to
.at

stuff like that.

Where can i find out how to register and how can i find more.

Btw, do you have to own a country to get a top level domain or no?

What's the cheapest registration for those tld's listed up there.

Thanks for your help

I know the lowest you can find .cc is around $30. Those other prob. higher. Those extensions try to pass themselves off as global names so their is no nexus link required (residence in country).

I wouldn't recommend any of them though. Mostly because of the high cost. Stick with .us dude! Only $5.

lol, .us is one of the worst sounding ones....

.cc isn't that bad, just the cost...

Nope, not a'tall. Just need about $10,000 capital. http://www.opennic.unrated.net/new_tlds.html
The newest ICANN version is 3 years old and calls for $50,000.

I wonder what the renewal fee will be though?
Better inspect it. That is usually how these .cc deals balance out.

You misunderstand. First, OpenNIC isn't really real TLDs, you need to edit some files for it to work. Otherwise if you happen to have a Tier 1 server lying around it's free.
If you go with ICANN, anyone can automatically access it...if you're approved. And it's more that you pay for the priviledge of creating a new one than buying one, because you submit a tld...say, .tld, and if you're approved that's what you pay for, and anyone can then automatically (once their ISP's update their DNS server cache) access .tld sites and buy domain names.

Why .cc domain names and such are so expensive is because their
1) Newer
2) More desirable.
Profitably, you have to charge $7 per domain name. Much lower and you won't make a profit. (This, btw, is a good way to figure out if something is a scam...if it's under $7, they're not making a profit, so they're either going to run with your money or die....very, very quickly.)

If someone could provide a link telling why domains cost at all I am sure many here would be much obliged, because I haven't a clue :classic2:

Domains cost money to make sure that one person doesn't just go and take all of the ones in the world. That would suck.

.tk = $10
.ws = $16
.uk = $20
.tj = $20
ext.tj = $8
.st = $35
.ph = $35
.tv = $38

Tell me if you can find them cheaper.

.cc is a loser country tld. After launching years ago many domain speculators were fooled into thinking they were worth something, but now no one even bothers to speculate into them muchless use them.

Absolutely no desirability to .cc

I completely agree. .com and .net names are very underrated, people are more likely to remember them.

all the good .com's and .net's are taken, that is why I am interested in .cc . I could get a three letter .cc very easily where I can't get any three letter .com's or .net's at all. I did some random letter entries in a whois check and I couldn't find any, not even one, .com 3 letter domain. same for .net.

If someone can prove me wrong please do, I would like to find a cheap .com three letter if possible.

$300 lowest price for a 3 letter .com
And yes all 3 letters are taken. Same for .net and .org.
However a 3 letter .net can be purchased for $40.
And i can sell you a 3 letter .org for $25.

Or you can just go register a 3 letter .us/.biz/ for $5.

Btw--those five domains--the offer is taken down.
I'll come back tommorrow with alternatives if your still interested. Are you still interested?
