St. Anger

OK, I'm a definite Metallica fan. They aren't my favourite band, but I love 'em. So belive me when I say this:

They're new album is ----ing horrible. If you've heard the song St. Anger, you know what I'm talking about. Believe me, the rest of that CD doesn't get any better. I think Metallica spent too much time trying to destroy Napster and abusing their bassist to the point where he just up and left, to actually sit down and make a quality album. Hopefull they'll rebound with a better album when they release their next one a million years from now.

The main problem is there's been kind of a role reversal. There was a time when all those metal type bands wanted to be like Metallica. On this CD, Metallica sounds like all those ----ty nu-metal bands like P.O.D or Korn, or even *shudder* Linkin Park.

Let's just say I'm quite disappointed. :(

actually the songs st. anger and frantic are pretty ok imo, but the rest is realy horrible, as you said

First of all, what is up with the drums? The snare is waaay to tight. Whoever is responsible for that should be severely injured.

Where are the guitar solos!?! You simply can't have Metallica without solos.

Hetfield's voice is showing it's age as well. He no longer has the vocal range he used to. A prime example of this is in "Frantic" where his yells are amazingly poor.

Okay, I haven't even heard the song "St. Anger" yet, but I assume it sucks. I heard one song during the "World album premiere", and it was horrible.

Anyways, I don't know if there was much "hype". Just lots of money spent on publicity...

I was pretty excited when i heard that Metallica's gonna release a new album.. but man.. when I first heard St. Anger.. I was just like.. hell.. is that CRAP by Matallica?! God, that song is horrible.. it sounds nothing like their earlier stuff.

I'm very disappionted:(

that's a tough one. Certainly not the new one. :p

I'm one of those rare fans who likes Metallica's new stuff almost as much as their old stuff, again, with the newest CD excluded (that WHT post was very accurate, I thought)

But I'd say it's a toss up between Kill 'em All and Ride the Lightning. If Seek and Destroy wasn't on Kill 'em All, it'd be Ride the Lightning all the way. Then again, the black album had Enter Sandman :p

I was just stating that unlike the threadstarter i prefer Limp Bizkit/Linkin Park over metallica. Cause he said it sounded like them.
