Has anyone used zzn.com or i-p.com? I tried zzn, and the email service is pretty good, but I hate the .zzn. I wish someone else could offer something like that w/your own domain. I am confused in i-p.com -does your domain have to be registered with them or something?

I believe that both of those only offer subdomain addresses. Pretty stupid.
As for ones that offer it for your own domain, everyone.net and bigmailbox.com are the only two free ones that I know. Both are pretty good, but have lots of ads on your page. These days I lean a little more to bigmailbox.com...it seems mor professional.

No... i-p.com lets you use your own domain, but you have to use their DNS servers.

i-p.com is powered by Outblaze.
Does Outblaze offer services like everyone and bigmailbox?

Outblaze is not free, I emailed their sales-rep once and he got back to me with a brochure giving all the price details. And it was not cheap.
Transferring domain to zzn DNS means hosting with them. You can't use a any other fwp cause they don't allow it.

The DNS servers? It just means you need to get your host to change your MX and CName records to point to everyone.net or bigmailbox instead of your own domain. The advantage is it means your e-mail doesn't becoma a part of your disk space anymore as it's hosted elsewhere. The disadvantage is they can get slow at times (everyone.net in particular), so checking your mail may be like walking through jelly :)
Of course you need a host that will allow you to have different mail servers as well.. I think most will do it for you.

Of all the plugin services my favorite is Everyone.net. Bigmailbox is solid but something about them rubs me wrong, they have allowed some adult sites to offer their services though so that moves them up a notch. ZZN needs to be more selective. You can't expect people to use your email accounts as anything more than a spambox if you allow just about anyone with a personal homepage to offer your service and I wouldn't spend advertising dollars promoting a email service that wasn't fully branded.
As much as I love Everyone.net their obsession with popup banners has soured me a bit so I would recommend a smaller site that I found a few years ago - http://www.ghostmail.com They offer a fantastic service and have always been my backup partner in case Everyone.net goes belly up!

For ghostmail, are they reliable? Do they have popups?
It seems you should mail them to signup. How is the chance to be accepted, if I only want to pool my domain with them?

I signed up for a ghostmail account a little over a year ago just to have a look around and I would suggest you do the same. The inbox design needs some work but the mail program works great and best of all no popups or pop behinds or anything popping anywhere. They do have to approve your site but based on some of their partner sites that I've seen they're pretty liberal. Don't get me wrong while they don't have popups now don't think that they aren't coming. They just aren't a big enough company to have to use them right now and that could still be a few years away.
I have been there too, but where the heck do you sign up?
Is i-p any good?

It's now limited to 20 mailboxes (unless you pay for an upgrade) and no longer offers free webhosting.
