Today I went to my local future shop (kind of like best buy for usd folks)

As I entered the store, something caught my eye, something I never saw was there. Besides the customer service place was a big red board with price for pc upgrades/fixes. I went at the end of the customer support line and read the board while the guy was arguing tha his vcr ate his tape, heh. Here's some prices:

Replacement of motherboard = 99.99$
Replacement of hard disk = 74.99$
Replacement of video/sound card = 59.99$
Ram upgrade = 34.99$
Application Installation = 19.99$ / per app

Isnt this a LITLLE overpiced? I mean come on...
Mobo chamge costs almost as the mobo itself. lol
And what about app install.... Double click on setup.exe and click 5 times on next and here ya go, 20 bucks... god

During summer I think I'm gonna try something.
Make them install some complex app fr 20 bucks :)
So far I've got linux as the most troule-making app. Especilly X under a laptop, took me 5 days to configure the -----... I wonder if they'll charge 20 bucks or 1000, lol. 20 for each bundled app with linux (x, txt editor, printer support, blablablabla)

Oh, and I picked up a work aplication while I was waiting in line reading the prices, heh

Those prices are reasonable.

To you, a person who doesn't physically own a store that has to pay rent per month, plus employees and utilities may seem a little expensive, but down here in FL we charge the same.

That is WAY over priced. At my shop here in Cold Lake, I have an hourly rate of $40 Canadian. The average Motherboard takes half an hour to replace and then another hour is charged if they want windoze or the linux of their choice installed. Ram takes a minute to install, so I usually stick it in for free if they buy it. As for video cards, sound cards hard drives, usually half an hour is charged. So Those prices are extremely high.

They are free to charge what they please for those services.
If people feel they are charging too high of a rate then those individuals are free to not use those services and can go elsewhere.
