I think there used to be a site at http://www.php-nuke.f2s.com or something like that, but I can't access it right now.

Yeah, well, keep in mind phpNuke required PHP and MySQL...

Some time ago, I tried to install a script, only to realize later on that it needed MySQL.

hmm....can someone just really quickly explain to me what PHPnuke does?

PHPNuke is what's called a CMS (Content Management System). Once installed it allows the use to build content online from a browser window, instead of uploading it from offline. It also allows for memberships, and article writing etc... In short, it allows you to manage content I suppose :) It has plugin modules to add polls and what not as well. In general CMS are pretty handy. Nuke is the most popular and fairly easy to install if you have access to telnet or SSH to run the SQL setup. I'm not a big fan of it though - it runs quite slowly, and isn't very pretty to look at compared with others like Typo or Backend.
