Does this host have any disadvantages?
http://www.livin4.com/
I'm looking at the free 50 MEG account with no ads.

Other than the above, I'm looking for a fast free website provider with no ads. I mean: no banner, no pop-up, no tiny textlink, etc. It doens't have to support ZIP files, I'm looking for a place that supports/uploads JPG and GIF files. It should also support animated GIFs. I'm looking for a place with a File Manager for uploading. By the way, when I search this site would I want to see "FTP" or "Browser" under "Upload" if I want a File Manager?

Thank You for any help

You want "browser".

But you'll realize File Managers are crappy (most of the time) and FTP is better. So, forget about filemans and look for FTP.

There are reasons. Like if you are at work or school and not allowed to install sofware.

Well, it's hard to imagine people using their time to make their sites at school and at work - it's time-consuming! Also their time is usually limited... so most people do it at home, see?

Plus if a host allows CGI access you could install your own file manager.

Do you believe there is still people that don't even own a home computer? :)

I build my websites at home. They are for personal use.

I guess Livin4 doesn't even allow Canadians to sign-up, they only have a US sign-up. What's a good free provider in Canada (or has Canadian sign-up where you select your country) that is fast, has no ads, and has a File Manager? It doesn't have to support CGI. It should support uploading JPG and GIF files. It doesn't have to support ZIP files, I can find a file storage place for that. I'm looking for about 10 MEGs for my HTML files and my picture files.

Does it really matter where you are? I mean, you can lie to them, nobody'll know or care. 'Course, I'm not teaching you to cheat hosts here... ;)

Hey, does this host have any disadvantages?
http://www.free-hosting.lt/
From what I know, they give you 10 MB of free space with no ads of ANY kind. You can choose your country. They should support JPG and GIF files. I just wonder what their restrictions on ZIP files are, I'd probably use a file storage place anyway (see my file storage topic). All I want to know is, are there any disadvantages?

That's a pretty damn stupid thing to say. Something like less than 10 percent of the world population owns a computer.

Ahem...that was why I said it. To prove my point that some people need web upload because they aren't allowed to install an ftp program at work/school/whatever and can't do it at home because they [B]don't own an computer[B].

Laurie's quote was from when we were talking about Livin4, Livin4 is the free web host with the cable modem. I'm talking about Free Hosting It.

Are there any disadvantages in Free Hosting It? BTW, I wonder if they have a File Manager for uploading and deleting files? The 10 MB they give is good enough for my HTML files and my picture (JPG and GIF) files, I can just find a File Storage place for my ZIP files.
