I registered a domain through my web host, his hosting was later shut down due to spam. I can't reach him. I am using namecheap for the domain transfer. It's been four days, and it's still pending, "Domain transfer initiated and awaiting approval." The hosts website is down. What can I do to get my domain back? My website has been down, and I can't reach the host anywhere. The administrative contact is the host. My name doesn't appear anywhere on a whois search because I had it anonymously registered which I now realize was a mistake. What can I do? I was getting a good steady stream of hits to my site, but I'm afraid if it stays down too long, I will lose a lot of visitors. I also don't want to change the name of the website, the one I have is the one I want to keep.

It can take anything up to a week for a transfer to go through completley, but there is a chance you may not get it at all.

Many hosts that offer a free domain with webhosting, have the domain registered to themselves, they don't actually register it in your name, so once you leave the hosting, the domain still remains theirs.

If you don't have control of the domain at the original registrar, which i guess you don't, then it's very likley you wont get it :(
