id like to get first hand info on namecheap.com ..i am wanting to get a domain name (.com or net) for my site but i wanna make sure that i use a good domain host..i heard namecheap.ccom is good, offers $8.88 a year..i checked em out and it sounds good but i want info from someone who actually uses them or has used them..any thing i need to be aware of, any catches? why are they offering such a cheap price for a year when others have such higher prices and per month? and also for example, if my site experiences problems and goes down, can i redirect people to another temporary site with that domain name?

They don't host your site for $8.88. They just get register your domain name. You get URL and email forwarding and a few other things but they don't host your site. It's still a good deal for the domain registration but you have to get your own hosting.

I've been using it for over a year. And have no problems with them. I had a small glitch in chaning IP's for nameservers, but when I emailed support, they actually changed it for me themselves. Fast response too.

Is changing IP's something I should be concerned about? thats my internet provider, not IP address right? because I am still on dial-up and my ip address changes everytime i log onto the net

Your domain will have nothing to do with what you concerned about!

Namecheap:

There are no catches.
It's a great deal.

Just go with it!
