internet explorer doesn't work...

I can't seem to open Internet Explorer using the iexplore.exe file, or any short cuts. I currently have an html file on my desktop so i just double-click that.. its very tedious.. any help?

Did you install an old IE version before, eg. IE 1 or 2? If so, try reinstalling IE6 sp1, or try system restore.

well i'm on xp pro with sp1... so i'll try reinstalling sp1 for ie or get some updates or something
