Hey everybody I reformatted my girlfriends computer it is a HP pavilion 521c and for some reason whenever the Speedstream 4060 DSL Modem is intalled the audio gives me all kinds of skips clicks pops and general things you don't want your audio to do.
So I need help, I don't know what the heck the problem is, can anyone help me, has anybody ever had problems when they install a USB device. If you can help me that would be great. Thanks a bunch

It's a USB DSL modem, correct?
Perhaps install the USB drivers for the specific motherboard. Windows XP USB drivers do work, however, cannot be guarenteed compatability.

Grrr...it is the most annoying bug, I have spent probably 3 average since last Monday trying to fix it. It only does it when I install it. and yes it is USB
I am thinking maybe IRQ but the USB is running on IRQ 21 and the Sound on 22
Anybody, I feel so bad that I broke my girlfriend family's computer :S

I am going to install another sound card and see what happens.
Any more advice would be great

I put a new sound card in there, it worked fine. But I still wish I could figure out what the heck that other problem was from STUPID HP!

Could it be the webpage refreshing itself?
SOmetimes on Windows XP webpages refresh itself.
If you find it annoying, you can always turn off the beeps in the Sounds section.

It has nothing to do with the page refreshing itself. It is a hardware problem, and I blelieve since it is built in audio and usb, I am pretty sure it has something to do with buffer sharing etc etc. the new sound card worked though so I am happy with that

Try that, i was doing my weekly windows update, and yeah, this one came up and said it eliminates the popping sound coming from you speakers, it's an issue related to NAT (not sure if the ADSL modem you have support NAT, but it may, so it's worth a try) and yeah, install it and see what happens. :)
Yes yes i know i dug up a thread
I think this may possibly fix it, as it installs some files like usbaudio.dll and stuff, and yeah, try it.
Err never mind i just realised you said the new soundcard worked.

Is it a internal sound device, or is it like Extigy, USB audio?

And I also suggest that you abstain from USB modems. They will cause your computer to crash more often... At least on Windows ME.
Use ethernet modems, they are much more stable.
