So here I am at the computer, wide awake, and its almost 3am.
Why am I up so late you ask?
Well it seems that the upstairs neighbours have let their smoke detector batteries run low (from what I gather), and thus the warning 'beep-beep' goes off every minute or so, and has been since thursday night.
The noise is loud enough to keep me from sleeping, and if I knew which exact apartment it was I'd be up there right now. :angry2:

What I tend to do if there is an annoying noise keeping me awake, is concentrate on that solely, anticipate the time between start/stop and usually the brain just switches off after a while. Don't treat it as an annoyance, but as an aid to sleep. :) Chances are when they replace the battery, you won't be able to sleep because it is too quiet :biggrin2:
Incidentally, are the neighbours away? If not have you checked to see if they are okay?

Headphones: classical or soft rock. You'll be asleep in no time. :classic2:

Hope they're fine, if not that'll be the second person this year to die in that apartment.
And if they did at least they did it peacefully without waking me up at 4am like the last guy.
(Of course I am not actually making fun, just being silly)

The beeping is gone now, either that or the TV is too loud for me to hear it.
Yeah, that's probably it.

This happened to me too, but the alarm was right outside my door. I was just falling asleep too, then the beeping started... beep... beep... ... beep... beep!! Arrrggg!!!
I finally got up and hit the alarm with a broom, stopped the beeping and released my anger :)
