Bruce...uh...are you sure? I've been looking for this too, and disabled it, but just read the description:
Transmits net send and Alerter service messages between clients and servers.
This service is not related to Windows Messenger.
If this service is stopped, Alerter messages will not be transmitted. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
Sorry about any mispellings, it won't select the text so I can copy+paste, had to type it manually.

Yes, this is Windows Messenger Service, what you want to disable.
Windows Messenger is an instant messenger.

I would like to thank bruce as well as it gets very annoying to type something up when this message pops up.
I was seriously looking into buying one of those, message stoppers.

Me too I think if there is someone who can write this messages and send it they should tell them how to stop it. I'm gona try sending it to some one telling them how to stop it.

If you're getting those it means you're not using a firewall.. besides just disabling the service it I'd suggest getting one as well.

I've used ZA, ZA Pro, Norton, and McAfee and none of them managed too. I have no intention of going through any more firewalls to see if any will stop these netsend messenges.

Yes, I plan on picking up an old P2 system some time and giving it firewall duties.

When I disable my ZA Pro, I get those ads, when I enable it, they all go away.

Odd. Well ZA didn't work for me anyway, since it will not allow any type of server whatsoever, so I'll just stick with
McAfee Guardian and disable the messenger serivce since I have no use for it anyway.

Little *bump*
I'm behind a hardware firewall of sorts, my router has a hardware firewall and should block most things (and does), but I still get these popups thru trillian. Haven't gotten any recently, but I only get them now and again.

some of them say if you want it blocked u should go to their website and buy some kind of software to block it. :p but what I wanted to say didn't come out right. I meant to say if there is anyone in here who knows how to send the messages they should send messagest telling the reciever how to stop it just like Bruce said cuz it's working:D
